Paint objects with real-world textures
A concept for customizing objects with YOUR things from around the house using augmented reality. Grab textures as pictures from around the house and create mashups over an object.
At first I imagined the phone acting as a projector, projecting the captured textures over an object. The issue, however, was that the texture always looked perfect from the camera perspective, but would actually be distorted when seen from any other perspective (like a real projector would). Additionally, moving the phone in space to align the images as desired was more tedious than doing so via the touchscreen.
Spatial AR Dictionary
Place the vocabulary you are learning in the environment around you. Form associations with the real objects, study the words using spaced repetition, play with them in the physical space, combine them and relate them to each other, form sentences etc.
Why?
- By placing vocabulary in the environment around us, we create associations with physical objects and places
- These associations are more likely to stick
- We get reminded of the words even just by looking at the words when going about our life
- Spatially and contextually relate the words (e.g. all words relevant to cooking are in the kitchen)
- Make studying vocabulary more fun finally!
