HoloLens Product Visualization
The Goal
The purpose was to create a proof-of-concept HoloLens application and a video of the experience that will allows us to:
- demonstrate the potential of the AR technology,
- help the enterprise customers imagine how their physical products could be visualized in high-quality AR and eventually transition to using such a technology
- explore the challenges and opportunities of building such a system at scale
Mockups and Iterations
I designed, prototyped and tested a variety of solutions, first on paper and in VR and then later in Unity and on the actual HoloLens device to finally arrive at something that makes good use of the limited FOV, is relatively easy to understand and use and is visually appealing.
Final Prototype
We developed a prototype HoloLens application that allows a user to design a presentation space using various fixtures, populate them with high-quality 3D models of physical products and visualize them life-sized in the physical space.
Due to Covid and work-from-home policies, the application is meant to be usable from home, which means the presentation spaces one could design are scaled down to fit in a moderately-sized living room. Furthermore, special attention was paid to making the application as user-friendly as possible in order to be usable without prior training or support.
